Umut is a London-based Deep Learning Fellow and finance professional with deep Python expertise, whose career sits at the intersection of AI, quantitative finance, and real-world business implementation. He has held roles across Deutsche Bank's derivatives desk, Garanti Bank, and a Danish energy trading fund—where he deployed machine learning models for supply and demand forecasting. Umut began collaborating with PyFi in 2023 producing content and advising from a technical perspective. In early 2026, Umut became CTO and Head of Programming.

Zach founded PyFi (originally Machine Learning Edge) in 2018 after a career at Wells Fargo Securities. While working as an analyst on the debt syndication desk, he taught himself Python and built the firm’s first machine learning algorithm for investment banking, using predictive modelling to improve decision-making in capital markets. He submitted two algorithms for patent protection and won Wells Fargo’s 2018 Local Sphere Innovation Award. Zach’s original research, including the efficient frontier framework for mapping Python against competing finance tools, remains foundational to PyFi’s published work. His courses have been delivered to thousands of finance professionals at institutions including J.P. Morgan, Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of Montreal, and TD Bank.

Coming from a successful career in Manhattan brokerage where he built his
own team and led $100M in residential sales, Gill turned his attention towards a new industry and set of challenges.
With skills in business development, sales, marketing, contract negotiation, and management, Gill successfully expanded PyFi's distribution channels by tapping a new strategic partner in 2019 which led to placement in top banks across North America.
Shortly after, he partnered with Zach to become a permanent member of the company and in 2024, he did it again expanding PyFi's training to over ten thousand students across Europe and Asia.
